Design Services Case Study – Motors

For motor field assemblies, there are sometimes many different approaches to the same end. In this case, we can optimize the performance vs. cost equation based on achieving a given flux output or on achieving the most flux in a given envelope. A value analysis exercise of this nature often results in savings or performance enhancements of more than 30%.
Design Services Case Study – Sensors

Magnetic sensors are now being used frequently for precise determination of position and movement. Here again, there are often several ways to achieve the desired output. In some of these, a linear output is required as a function of non-linear motion, most commonly circular motion in either two or three D. The magnet normally moves and position is sensed by a combination of probes. The type of probe, number of probes, position of probes, and fixturing of probes are as important as the magnetic system design in ensuring predictable results. We can work with the customer to optimize the total system design, finding the best magnetic material with the best shape and size to provide the desired signal as a function of position, and provide the assembly of components insert molded or die caste for protection against wear or environment. When insert molding is desirable, we will suggest the polymer based on environmental and abrasion requirements.
